A celebration of 100 years of women’s suffrage
Join us in celebrating the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, in which women won the right to vote. Discover the stories of the unsung heroes, including local heroes, Elizabeth Freeman and Sojourner Truth, and also African American women’s suffragist clubs and women factory worker labor union organizers, who fought the struggle and impacted US history of the past two centuries.
“The women of today are the thoughts of their mothers and grandmothers, embodied and made alive….Millions of women dead and gone are speaking through us today.” Matilda Joslyn Gage, suffragist, Native American rights activist and abolitionist.
